So Texas tried to hire Coach Simmons for about double the money to coach WRs. Turned them down. End result? Texas announces they will retain Coleman for WRs while showing to the country the guy at OU is the one they wanted... and the one recruits should too. Hope this is true as Simmons is a great recruiter. I'm guessing he got a nice raise from OU.

As much as I detest the gross overpaid coaches I do get it that you have to match the offers for your best coaches. Simmons has proven his worth over the past 20 years. So, he is worth whatever OU had to pay him to keep him at OU.
On the flip side, OU might not have had to up his salary to much as being at OU is more valuable than being at Texas. At OU Simmons won't have to worry about his job as OU will keep Riley at OU as long as possible. Again, on the flip side, Texas will be firing a coach every four years unless they win an NC every other year.

So with Simmons staying, doesn't look like Riley to Philly. Am I correct?

Riley was never going to the Eagles. His wife would divorce him and his kids would would never talk to him again. And literally NO ONE looks good in Green.

I had no insider information on the Riley to the Eagles, however, I didn't miss a minute's worth of sleep on the prospects of Riley leaving the Sooners and Norman for the Eagles and Philadelphia.

I doubt anyone born in Muleshoe, TX has EVER willingly moved to Philadelphia for any reason.

Muleshoe is the cultural and intellectual center of north east Bailey County and has a population of 5,000. While I have never been there, I have a cousin who coached there (a little before Riley's time) so I have an intimate knowledge of the quality of the residents of Muleshoe. A significant number of folks who were born in Muleshoe would do most anything to get out of there, even move to Philadelphia.
