Delusional --- He wants to win some NC's at OU... after that he can have his pick of NFL jobs ... Why in the world would he want to go there.... Jason Garret to Philly is more likely!

So a team just 3 years removed from winning the SB fires its HC and wants to recruit a coach paid $6.5m/yr to uproot from OK to go to Philly and coach. To go from job security to Not For Long league where you are paid less than a lot of players and have to babysit big ego’s lest you get fired even faster. A league spewing revenue because of certain social stances which means in a short time players will be taking pay cuts and teams will have to manage much reduced caps due to said lost TV revenue with no end of lost viewing fans in sight.

the Eagles message boards aren't the most active sports boards around but looking them over Riley is a fan favorite with Eagles fans but most of their boards are ripping the ownership and front office pretty hard. If you believe even a little of it as being true the Eagles job doesn't appear all that attractive.

If he goes to that dump, Riley is crazy and on a power trip.

My sister used to live there, so been to Philly many times. Apart from Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and some historical sites, not much else to like.

Report: Lincoln Riley 'content to stay where he's at for now'
The Philadelphia Eagles coaching search began Monday afternoon after they fired Doug Pederson after five seasons. Immediately, general manager Howie Roseman reportedly reached out to Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley. This wasn’t the first time the two were in touch, as Riley was a consultant of sorts for the Eagles draft process on a couple of prospects, including former Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts, whom the Eagles selected in the second round. The interview requests are going out for the Eagles and trying to bring in Riley would be a bold and intriguing move.
According to Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Riley appears to be fine in his current role as a college head coach. “There was also a report that the Eagles had reached out to University of Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley about the opening,” Domowitch wrote. “But sources in Norman told The Inquirer that Riley seems content to stay where he’s at for now.” Hiring Riley would be the second college hire from owner Jeffrey Lurie. They previously hired former Oregon coach Chip Kelly prior to the 2013 season but he was fired with one game remaining in the 2015 season.
NJ Advance Media’s Joe Giglio also pondered the possibility of the Eagles reaching out to Riley shortly before the team decided to part ways with Pederson. “Let’s start with a relationship that already exists between Riley and the Philly front office, led by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman,” Giglio wrote. “According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Roseman has cultivated a relationship with Riley over the years that includes listening to the Oklahoma coach on draft advice. It was Riley that agreed with the team’s assessment of Oklahoma tackle Orlando Brown, leading to the Eagles going down the route of selecting Dallas Goedert in 2018 . . . Of course, Riley isn’t just a talent evaluator. He’s a head coach, and an excellent one at the collegiate level. The biggest reason: His ability to get the most out of quarterbacks. The signal caller seems to change on a yearly basis, but the Sooners don’t miss a beat. It was Baker Mayfield in 2017, Kyler Murray in 2018, Hurts in 2019 and Spencer Rattler in 2020. None was a lock to be special. All put up eye-popping numbers, with the first three parlaying collegiate success in Riley’s system into major NFL Draft pick status. If the Eagles truly want to be a ‘quarterback factory,’ well, there might be no better producer of quarterbacks out there to go get.”
Regardless of who’s at quarterback, Riley is a quarterback guru in college. He coached Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray to Heisman trophies and Hurts as a Heisman finalist. Each signal caller thrived in his system, including Rattler this season. Riley is 45-8 in four seasons at Oklahoma as head coach. He is 1-3 in Bowl Games but won the Big 12 conference all four years and made the College Football Playoff three of his four years.
The Eagles have a quarterback problem with their financial investment in Carson Wentz but also have Hurts on the roster. That could be enticing to Riley, should he change his mind, whether it’d be to coach his former quarterback, fix Wentz or both. Of course, Giglio mentions the “quarterback factory,” which is a phrase general manager Howie Roseman was criticized for when he selected Hurts in the draft despite just signing Wentz to a big contract extension. On the field, neither quarterback had long lasting success in 2020 with Wentz having the worst season of his career and Hurts only showing flashes of his potential but not much consistency in his final three starts of the year.

It used to be trivial to make the jump to the NFL from a salary perspective. However, with colleges paying so much these days and factoring in much longer tenures than 3 to 5 years if you don't get the job done at the NFL level, your salary at the collegiate level is actually better.
This past year was a rebuilding year for the Sooners and Riley still got double digit wins and won the Big 12 title. I see that being a consistent for the next couple of decades or more if he so desires.

He needed to do that response so it does not hurt recruiting so I’m glad to see. Saying nothing is used against you in recruiting wars.

I haven't really followed pro football much the last few years grew tired of all the stuff outside of the game that was going on... but.... growing up a Dallas fan I can still enjoy seeing the Eagles struggle.
googling their search I now see the ohio state coach Ryan Day is on their list, it would be interesting I guess to watch the, uh THEohio state fans if that happens.

Riley is not going to the Eagles. I can't see him leaving OU, considering the run that he about to have.
If the Dallas job were to open again, that may concern me a bit more.
