Sorry, guys, while the topic was related to OU football in as far as how it affects recruiting, the discussion of paying off college loan debt was focusing way too much on the political side.

Eman, thanks for removing that thread. Political threads simply don't belong here. I'm sure that it was posted here by simple error and/or didn't think it was political.
Thanks.

No problem, Fly. The topic was indeed pertinent to college football going forward, but in these times the "other" consequences of the situation took the discussion in an area best left alone here. Hope you understand.

Fly I know you didn't mean to post political things here. No sweat as we all fail to make the connection at the time.

Another questions that could be asked that keeps the focus on football:
If there was no tuition in college, how would the NCAA keep the Alabamas and Ohio States from getting 50 recruits each year. How would you distinguish between a scholarship player and a walk on, if there were no scholarships?

is it possible that it could push things closer to paying players? money usually spent on scholarships now schools would be allowed to pay a the same number of recruits as they normally would have offered scholarships to?
or... a hard limit on the number players allowed per team, each team can have _______ number of players. but then if you did that I guess you would have to have some safeguards to keep a team from dumping 20 or 30 players one year and adding 50.

The only thing is in Swizter's day the 3rd string guys were still 4* recruits .. they wanted to come to have a chance at playing AT OU.. now a days kids don't care. They would rather start at Kansas or some div 2 school than play 2-3rd string at somewhere like OU. It's a good idea for depth and you would get kids that were really looking to try and make a name for themselves when they got a shot. However the talent level wouldn't be what it used to be.
