The announcers for this game were confident that if we win out we are in the conference championship game against ISU.  However, we need to be concerned about only one game which we have no control over - ISU at UT* this Friday. A 'Horn victory could leave us with a 4-way tie for the conference championship and we would have to wade through the dreaded tie breakers.

Assuming no upsets and a UT* victory, this is how it would stand with 4 teams at 6-2 - ISU, OU, UT* and OSU.

ISU will have a win over Oklahoma but losses to UT* and OSU.

OSU will have a win over ISU but losses to Oklahoma and UT*

UT* will have wins over ISU and OSU but a loss to Oklahoma

Oklahoma will have wins over UT* and OSU but a loss to ISU.

Also, UT* has a "bad" loss to TCU and Oklahoma has a "bad" loss to KSU.

So what are  the tie breakers?  If it is wins between the tied teams, then the conference championship looks to be another OU/UT* game.

How will they factor the two "bad" losses into the equation?  If they hold them against OU and UT*, then the championship game will be OSU vs. ISU.

Or will they just take the two highest ranked teams (similar to 2008?)

Does anyone know the tie breakers?

No idea, but hopefully slaughtering the team (OSU) that beat ISU who barely beat OU will count for something and OU is playing the best Big 12 ball right now. ISU beat a KSU team today that doesn't have their heart and soul in Thompson that OU had to contend with.

And marketing and money should factor into the equation; OU makes money for this conference while ISU is a free loader.

With that said, ISU is playing good ball and I think they will take care of Texas and Texas doesn't really have homefield advantage. They are not tough at DKR and there is obvious a much smaller crowd this strange year.

Still think it will be OU and ISU and OU is a very different team now with very different personnel now. ISU is very much the same team and that won't be enough this time.

Final point. Strange year. Anything can happen still. ;)

I've always liked this guys mens bball calculator. I'm not sure how accurate his tiebreakers are, but I assume he put out the effort to get it right:

If we win out, we are in the conference championship game, regardless of what anyone else does. In the scenario that you posted, where there was a 4-way tie, since OU and Texas would be 2-1 against the other tied teams, they would be in the championship game. Since OU beat Texas, we would be the #1 seed. If Iowa State beats Texas, then they would be the top seed and we would play them in the championship game.

Basically, in your scenario, we are 2-1 vs those teams, as Texas would be too, OSU and ISU would be 1-2.

If ISU beats Texas, we're in, assuming we win out.

That's not true. If Texas beats ISU and KSU beats Texas, we're out.

The first tie-breaker is head to head between the tied teams. We win a 3-way tie with osu and ut (or a 2-way tie with either), and ou and isu win a 4-way tie. Ksu already has 3 losses. So we're in if we win.

Who would play in the CG in that scenario?

Who would play in the CG in that scenario?

OSU and ISU. We'd be in a 3 way tie with them, all 3 1-1 head to head. So it goes to record vs #4, and that would be KSU.

Again, I'm assuming the guy here has the tiebreakers right, but it makes sense.

I think the most likely scenario is ISU beats Texas and Texas beats KSU. Then we play ISU in the championship game.

We really need to get back to hating Texas and pull for Iowa State to beat them.
Takes all the guess work out.
