Most likely Ohio State. He'd lost a step since his ACL surgery and had limited carries last year. He wants to be the main guy and Ohio State is desperate for a RB.

And a lot of those "limited carries" was because Jalen was a ball hog. There, I said it and everybody knows it. :dude:

Another reason I hate Jalen Hurts

Sermon only played in 4 games last year, and was averaging 13.5 carries per game before he went out. It’s not like they weren’t giving him the ball before he got hurt.

Trey is one of those guys I both loved and hated watching him play.

the Trey that would square up lower his shoulders and run forwards … I loved.

the Trey that stood upright and danced around on his tip toes I hated.

Interesting that a Grown Man(I assume) can actually "Hate" an 19/20 year old college student over a Game? Not really asking for an explanation just...................wow.

geeze… I hate the style of play not the man. he is just so close to being great then he will take these spells where he gets on his tip toes rather than using his size and power.

from the article:
"But midway through his junior year, Sermon’s carries dried up before an injury. He started three of the first four games and was second on the team in rushing behind quarterback Jalen Hurts. Sermon had 11 rushes for 91 yards against Houston, nine for 56 against South Dakota, seven for 51 against UCLA, seven for 76 against Texas Tech and 11 for 76 against Kansas. Then he recorded zero carries against Texas, and ran the football just nine times in the next three games before a knee injury sidelined him the final five games of the season."

Taking Jalen out of the equation, here's a comparison of Sermon's and Brooks' stats the last 4 games Trey played:
Iowa St - Sermon 1 carry 14 yds, no catches (injured in 2nd qtr); Brooks 15 carries, 132 yds, 1 catch 6 yds
K St - Sermon 3 carries 9 yds, 2 catches 15 yds; Brooks 3 carries 2 yds, no catches
WV - Sermon 5 carries 17 yds, no catches; Brooks 10 carries 70 yds, 2 catches 28 yds
TX - Sermon no carries, no catches; Brooks 10 carries 105 yds, 1 catch -1 yd

It seems pretty clear that Brooks had taken over as the main tailback. Because of Hurts' running, that may not have been obvious as it otherwise would have been.

I wasn't saying he lost carries because of the injury. That's why I used the word and. He was tested this spring and he's a little slower from the injury and he saw the writing on the wall. We're in on some really fast guys and Brooks was faster than Sermon. Sermon's not dumb by any means.

Where on earth did I get these stats from?? I am obviously mathematically challenged (among other things). Sorry folks.

After Brooks, more carries for Pledger and Marcus Major Badass. I'm sure Ohio St. remembers Sermon's performance against them as a young lad. Not huge stats but he made some big time plays.

Blaming this on Hurts is ridiculous. You can blame it on Riley but Hurts was just executing the plan. When you have a guy like Hurts who is not only a duel threat but his greater threat is running the plan is going to exploit the skill.
