Among coaches indicted (some current, some former): Stanford sailing coach John Vandemoer, Yale women's soccer coach Rudy Meredith, Georgetown tennis coach Gordon Ernst, several USC coaches, UCLA men's soccer coach Jorge Salcedo, Texas men's tennis coach Michael Center.

If the 'horns men's tennis coach can be bribed, who knows who else is for sale on the 40 acres?

All of these college have massive "compliance departments" to make sure a player doesn't somehow receive an extra nickel, yet their own coaches are taking bribes to "recruit" fake athletes. No one checked to see if these recruits were good players. Or players at all.

According to the FBI documents unsealed today, Texas tennis coach Micheal Center is alleged to have received a $100,000 bribe where he would designate a student as a recruit to the UT tennis team, helping his admission status.

Can't help but wonder how long this has been happening? And what about the college students who graduated but were admitted under false pretenses? Do those degrees not count? And what of the current students whose parents cheated to get them in? They have to be gone, right?

This really hasn't much to do with college sports. What this is, is a massive scheme to enroll students in high dollar schools to get kids enrolled that don't qualify. It is traced back to a single guy who created this scam. It is big dollar stuff.

this is a pretty big deal with Texas, looks like the only thing to do is shut the athletic department down.

Those that graduated should keep their degree since they earned it - unless the University cares to try to prove academic fraud.
Those currently in school should be allowed to transfer out with credits earned.  It wasn't the kids fault that the parents cheated to get them in.
