Had an interesting morning today.
At the beginning of January, my company shuffled our assistants around.
Being an old-timer, I was assigned a newer employee, so I could assist with her learning process.
After 2 months, she nonchalantly walks in to my office, looks at all the OU stuff I have hanging on the walls and says: My cousin used to play football for OU.
His name? James Goode.
I immediately started smiling and said "I know who he is. Played DL for OU a while back (1986-1990).
He lives in the Houston area about 15 miles from where I live now.
Small world.

Indeed a small world. I have a similar story - it was probably in the mid-1990s, I was in the coffee room at my company in Dallas getting some coffee. I had an OU coffee mug, and a lady walked in that I had seen before but didn't know. She looks at my mug and said "my brother played football at OU". I said "really who is he? I have attended OU games for years". She smiled and said "Brian Bosworth". So, sister Boz worked at my company. :D

Was it Goode that slugged the UT player with his helmet back in 1989 or 1990? Either way, I approved as UT players are commie sumbitches.

Right after we moved to Houston back in the mid-nineties, we went to Georgetown for a long weekend.
Shopping in one of the shops, a woman mentioned our OU shirts and hats.
Turns out she was Joe Washington's aunt.

When I worked at UPS, I worked with Ron MCCOY, LeSean's dad.

From time to time, a bunch of coworkers would get together and play softball on a Sunday. He wasn't the most energetic worker but we would put him in center field cause he could run like a deer. He could run down any fly ball within 50 yards of his position.

I also once played in a 5 on 5 basketball tournament on a team with Kenny WATSON, former PSU and Bengals/Redskins running back.

In one of the games we played, we played against a team with former PSU/Jets/Jags/Pats tight end Kyle BRADY.

In one sequence, WATSON swatted BRADY'S shot three times in a row. The last one went into the bleachers. This was in the first few years of BRADY'S career. WATSON was a senior in high school.

I know this has nothing to do with the thread but I felt jealous of everyone else's OU stories. These are the best stories I have. I'm pathetic.

If this will make you feel any better, I once stood next to Greg Pruitt.

I have seen many famous athletes live and in person on TV.

I was a senior when Greg Pruitt was a freshman. We were both in the field house one afternoon, and got in a pickup game of 2 v 2 or 3 v 3, and I was guarding him. He passed the ball between my legs, ran around me, grabbed the ball and scored. First time I had ever seen anyone do that. In my defense, I picked off the pass the second time he tried it. Tidbit: Greg played for the OU freshman basketball team that year.

I used to play BB at both the field house and the old gym at Wilson Center. (Long, long ago). Greg Pruitt and a lot of the football players then played BB there in the off season. Pruitt was always nice and friendly, but just like in football, he only played offense.

Yes, Greg was nice. Fortunately for me, it was before trash talking became big so he didn't razz me.

I was in the field house once when a lot of football players were playing on the South goal. A DB and a linebacker got mad and started fighting. The DB was landing several punches with jabs, and avoiding any hits until one big roundhouse right from the LB laid him out. Sorry, can't remember the names of the players.
