looks like there may have been something to those rumors of Stoops to the XFL awhile back, reports today that he will be in charge of the Dallas franchise.

...I'm excited to see Bob on the sidelines again.

Be interesting to see him wear the two hats of HC & GM.
Wondering if there will be open tryOUts or invitations, or if the League will have some sort of draft pool from collegiate players not drafted by the NFL.

Dallas isn't too far a drive.
Might want to check it OUt.
YOU'd imagine the Dallas franchise will more fans in Oklahoma than the Dallas area.

Since I'm done with the NFL, XFL "might" be a chance to enjoy pro football again.

Intrigued!

Interesting! 10 games, 2 playoff games, 1 championship.
First game after Super Bowl 2020.

Dallas (Globe Life Park)
Houston (TDECU Stadium)
Los Angeles (StubHub Center/Dignity Health Sports Park)
New York (MetLife Stadium)
Seattle (CenturyLink Field
St. Louis (The Dome)
Tampa Bay (Raymond James Stadium)
Washington DC (Audi Field)

Less Stall, More Ball. Reimagining the game doesn’t mean we’re changing the basics: You’ll still see 11 vs. 11 football we all know and love. You will see it played on a 100 yard field with 10 yard end zones. You will see players fight every play, 4 downs at a time. But, XFL football will focus on four core areas of refresh. We plan to minimize idle time and speed up game time. We will increase on-field action. We are going to create in-game rhythm and flow.

The league will hold a draft in the summer or early fall of 2019.

The Dallas xfl team has a higher profile coach than the NFL Dallas team, that's got to be hard for Jerry to accept.

Bob Stoops Will Coach Again! Here’s Everything You Need to Know About the XFL and Bob’s Team…

Bob Stoops… back in football? I’m not too surprised he’s coaching again – I am shocked that he’s going to the XFL. But, his timing really couldn’t be better. The XFL and a rival upstart league are organizing as spring football leagues while the NFL is losing steam as America’s favorite league. They won’t have to go head-to-head against the NFL, but they might end up gaining some dissatisfied NFL fans.

The league will kick off next year – Bob will lead the Dallas team, who will play their home games at the baseball stadium currently occupied by the Texas Rangers (and which will soon be vacated for a newly constructed baseball stadium).

Here’s why we love it for Bob:
1.It’s not the high pressure of the NFL or Oklahoma. He can still relax and enjoy the game.
2.He can still be a part of Oklahoma. The XFL will play a ten week season in the spring with a short, two week playoff. Bob just found a new way to fill three months of offseason!
3.It gives all of us something to root for when there’s no Oklahoma football. I’m a casual fan of other sports, but not like most of you. Bennie and Buds very deliberately only covers Oklahoma football – we just don’t want to dedicate the space to any other sport. But a Bob Stoops football team in the spring? We’re in.

The XFL is an updated version of the NFL or college game. A few examples:
•There are no point after touchdown kicks. Rather, teams can run a play worth up to three points.
•Every offensive player will be an eligible receiver (or something very close to it).
•The clock doesn’t stop until the closing minutes of each half.
•The pace of play will be much faster.
Read up on the other rules because it’ll look like football but play much differently.

Finally, the league will be small. There are only eight teams but they’re spread across the country, from Seattle to New York and Los Angeles to Tampa Bay. OU fans will have three regional teams: St. Louis (without an NFL team since the Rams moved), Dallas, and Houston. The league kicks off after next year’s NFL season concludes. CBS and others reported that Bob was likely to take the job.

this is kind of like the wife saying "honey since you retired you are starting to get on my nerves, why don't you get a hobby"

so instead of restoring an old car, woodworking or going fishing... Bob's going to work a few weeks every spring doing something he enjoys.

is Mangino doing anything? the xfl competing against the NFL is like Kansas being competitive against OU and Mangino found a way to bring in the players that could do it.

– College football overtime system was used. In overtime, each team will have at least one possession, a maximum of four downs from the opposition’s 20-yard line, unless a defensive touchdown is scored on the first possession. However, if the first team scores a touchdown in fewer than four downs, the second team only gets that many plays to respond.

I think these are the previous rules. The new XFL may have made changes.
