He turned down the interview he was offered saying he wants to stay where he is especially with a 2 week old new baby. On the positive side, Manning interviewed this afternoon with Riley and Grinch.

I watched one of those youtube practice videos with Manning, I was impressed with the amount of detail he put into everything he did, and the energy he brought to routine dills, if this is the way he goes about everything everyday then he'd be a good addition I think.

I hope so. One for the middle and one for the outside backers.

Is that Tom Manning? Used to coach at Iowa State?

It would appear that OU struck out. They promoted Diaco to full time coach (LB). At this point the only new face is Grinch.

You have to remember there are going to be two LB coaches...one inside and one Outside. Manning was interviewed for outside.....so there was still an unnamed spot. I've also pretty much confirmed that Cooks is gone. So as I understand it at this point, it's Grinch DC and safeties coach, CB yet to be determined, Diaco ILB, Manning OLB and Thibs at D Line.......could be entire D Line but my source feels, and I agree, that Ruffin transitions an administrative position and Thibs has DEs and someone else is hired at DT coach.

Don't panic yet. This isn't over.

Is Viney being considered for DB coach?

When Stoops made staff changes he usually gave his assistants time to find other jobs instead of firing them….

That could be what’s going on here in some cases?

Cooks was very actively networking at the Coaches Convention over the weekend.

It's not Diaco at the other LB Coach. Talks are still ongoing. Things are still pretty fluid. I'm hearing that the leading candidate for CBs interviewed yesterday and is a home run hire that coached in both the ACC and the SEC. I'm thinking its Brian Mitchell from VA Tech, but can't confirm that.

I have a question ... how many D coaches can we hire ??

Before it was

Mike
Ruffin
Thibs
Kish
Cooks

5 total

Now we have

Grinch
Thibs
Manning
2nd LB Coach
DB Coach

still 5 total. However if Grinch splits the Dline and has a Tackles coach and DE coach that would be 6. Would that number still be in the total number of coaches a team can have. Just curious... Thanks in advance.

Technically, you can have the head coach and 10 assistants. But, if you're some schools, you might have 50 or so total. There's no limit. You just call them something else.

As I said, things are still very fluid and it's hard for me to work and keep up with all of this.

Just got a text that it's just Thibs along the entire D Line.

There is so much going on right now. AK just entered the transfer portal as I expected. The momentum about a transfer QB as a stop-gap for Rattler keeps getting stronger.

We have a Hawaiian O Linemen visiting this weekend, Enokk Vimahi. USC was his leader, but with all the chaos going on there, Coach B is going to make a strong push for him this weekend and the red carpet is out.

Also, we have Ike Danielson, also O Line, visiting this weekend and the coaches expect him to commit this weekend. Both are 2019 prospects.

New word on David Ugwoegbu is a wait and see due to possible scholarship limitations because they want to leave one open for a transfer QB. But as I calculate the numbers, with the new rule, we could take 5, especially since AK is transferring out.

Have to say there is some surprise that Riley and Grinch haven't hired a coach yet. I would have thought they would have these three or four slots by now.

I heard today that four players entered the portal. Including Trumanda Moore for obvious reason. What’s that do to the schollynumbers? Or did you already know about those and take them into account?

I was not aware of Trumonda Moore, but he was dismissed from the team in November, so he wasn't part of my current scholarship players. So we stay at five as I see it.

There was also an OL and a DB.

*OL Logan Roberson
*DB Prentice McKinney

Figured Moore wasn’t in your count but Roberson surprised me.

I'm surprised at both, that means we have plenty to work with.
