I know, I know but it had to be done.
There has been a bit of a twitter trend for OU on SJ Geurin. She's a 2022 that plays for Diamond Sports Hotshots Gold. She struck out 15 batters in the in the USA Select Championship game. If you'll go to PGF qualifiers and go to my post about Tiare Jenning monster homerun being 3. Geurin is #1 in the video. Tall left handed pitcher. I think you'll agree she looks like an OU Rickets type of pitcher in the making.

Its actually her dads twitter. Lots of OU follows. Especially of late. Also JT Gasso followed him. JT does follow a little easier than other coach's though. I know that seems a bit out there but you'd be surprised at how many times I've seen it happen before a commit.
Shes is a 2022. Its just a matter of time before we start seeing some commits from this class. Flosoftball said there has been a lot of questions of when they are going to do a 2022 Hot 100. They are planning on reranking the 2020 next. I believe they said after the PGF is over.

Great find! After watching her pitch, you can be sure that SJ (Savannah) Guerin is on OU's radar. After checking the family twitters, clearly the Guerin family are close to the OU sports family. I hope she is a high priority for OU.

Maybe we could show them some love .
Maybe this will be our 2022 #1 Hot 100 player.

Great idea! His daughter is the real deal. She reminds me of Keilani. I believe SJ's mother is a softball coach.

I would be surprised if getting him onto this board wouldnt be to OU's advantage. How many programs have a board that follows softball so closely and reflects the program's popularity so well?

I am not so sure that sports boards are the best places for athletes' parents. There are lots of posts that are speculative in nature that parents tend to take as personal attacks.

I do remember us having a one of the players dads on here that ended up getting mad. Or that's what I heard anyway. But at some time there would probably be some negativity. But that is usually after they are here. For the most part the recruiting is positive.

Yep! OU Hoops is the worst and posters there ran off many parents! SMH!

It is true that over the years we have had quite a few parents of OU athletes registered here at soonertimes. I don't know about OU_Tom, sybil and the other admins here, but over the years I have exchanged PMs from several of the parents. All of the PMs were initiated by the parents. It has been a mixed bag of responses from the parents who sent me PMs.
Some really appreciated the boards here as we kept them clean of the porn, profanity and kept the threads pretty civil. Others would contact me because they thought a poster was being to harsh on their child. One softball parent was upset by a couple of posters because he thought there were to tough on his daughter. I was asked to censor the posters comments. I read what had been written and didn't think I could/should do that as it wasn't malicious. It was just opinion of a player and within our board rules, etc.
I tried to tell the parent that I couldn't sanction a poster because of an opinion expressed within our rules. I don't think the parent liked it and don't think he ever posted again.
These sports message boards have to walk a fine line when it comes to being critical of coaches and players. If you eliminate any discussion of coaches and players then you might as well close the forums down. Games are won and lost by how coaches coach and how players play.
Our position here is that coaches and players are fair game as long as it doesn't get personal and out of hand. Just commenting or being critical about a pitcher not being able to put the ball in the strike zone is ok. Getting personal with the pitcher is not ok. Referring to coaches and players in really negative personal ways is certainly not ok.
These college kids are not children anymore. They are young adults. So, they should be able to handle some criticism. And, parents should understand that.
I have never monitored this forum. Sybil created it and OU_Tom takes care of the code etc. Both of these two admins love this forum and they would do about anything to make this forum better and more attractive to the good people who read and post here.
Over the years, this forum has been very good at monitoring itself. The OU Sports board is a little different. I attribute that to the high expectations of OU football fans. Losing a football game usually results in lots of angry fans who take their frustrations out on the coaches and players ... sometimes outside of our rules.
Even then we try to give fans a day or two to get back to normal.
Anyway, I am just rambling here. My thought is that you all are solid posters here. I'm sure you all can figure out ways to do things in a good way.

I've been posting on another board for 16 years or so and in the past couple years I have really been getting into the recruiting in softball and that is how I came upon this board. On the other board it's been all football for years until I started posting recruiting tidbits and it really has gone over well. I appreciate the fact that you guys talk softball. Thx for what you do for the ladies!

Walt makes alot of good points. The purposes of a board is to talk about coaches and players. This is one of the best boards I have seen when it comes to discussing teams and the sharing of recruiting info. While we don't always agree with each others points of view, and sometimes peoples post or intentions for their comments may be misunderstood causing un intended debates, we feel free to state our points of as long as they are in a tasteful and tactful manor. That being said posters should not feel or be pressured to make only positive comments about coaches and players.
We are fortunate to have the best coaching staff and team in the country and with the recent run of championships there are not many negatives to discuss. There are some areas of the team that could stand for improvement.

Well, I'm an old guy. My father started taking me to OU football games back in the early-mid 50s. I am a die hard OU football fan, but love to watch the girls sports as well. Your comment about having the best coaching staff in the country is right on target. Having followed OU sports for all these years I don't think we have ever had the kind of great coaching across the board as we now have at OU.
I attribute that to David Boren's decision to hire Joe Castigilione. Joe hasn't hired all of our great coaches, but he has set the tone for the kind of coaches he wants at OU. We are fortunate to have such great people coaching OU's athletes. Some very high character people coaching at OU.

I hear we had 42 softball recruits at football game today. From 2019 to 2022. So big recruiting day for OU softball.

That seems higher than I would have guested. 2019-2022 covers a period of 4 years. It seems like there might be 20-25 players every 4 years. Could 1/2 of those recruits be for 2022?

Seen where Sami Skelly was there so some 2018's must have been there also. Here is a sideline picture. Believe these are all or mostly 2022's.

That is cool that they had all those recruits for a football game. The game is exciting and having a ton highly ranked recruits all together will probably lead to continued awesome recruiting

Commitment from a 2022. Nice to get a Texas girl. She is SS/Of. My understanding is she is a very good shortstop.
