We were there for about 16 days in late May to early June.  These are but a few of out 1,000s of pictures.  Some we will blow up to 30 x 40 for framing.

I am in the process of culling some 6,000 to 7,000 files and will likely wind up with about 40 - 60 that we will then get ready to have prints made.  Some we will blow up to 20 by 30 and frame, others will be used for our gallery at cwuap.com.  To this point I have gone through about 1,500 files.

We will use some of these photos to put together calendars for friends and family and to put together another book of Yellowstone photos.  We will probably whittle down the some 6,500 photos to about 10 - 12 that we make prints for framing and hanging on the wall.

When we get to that point, if anyone sees a print on out site that they would like to have we would be willing to have the prints made and ship them at cost.

I definitely want to buy a copy of your Yellowstone calendar.  I think every American needs to spend a couple of weeks in Yellowstone enjoying one of the most beautiful spots on the planet; I've spent a few days in Yellowstone but really would like to spend several weeks there like Claire & you did.

ps. I spent two winters in Jackson Hole so I get very excited whenever I see photos of the Tetons.

Since you lived there for a good piece of time, I bet you recognized the location of the first photo in that piece?

I am guessing that it was taken from Jackson Lake but I spent most of my time observing the Tetons from the Jackson Hole ski resort so I am probably wrong.

Great pictures and I really like the presentation with pan and zoom, and the music track underneath.  I've started doing some of that (I haven't reached your level yet) with the Corel program that I use for video editing.

I was in Yellowstone in 1951 as a 12 year old kid with his first 35mm camera.  We were back  one week after 9-11 with my last film camera.

The big difference I noticed in 50 years was the lack of bear pictures in 2001.  In '51 they still let the bears eat in dumps and we fed them from car windows when we ran across them driving around.  I still have a print of me feeding a cracker to a bear that was at our car window.  In 5 days in 2001 we hardly saw any bears.

However there were no buffalo in '51 and they are all over the place now.  Sept is elk mating season and I got lots of close up pics of elk in 2001.

My only regret is that I had not gone digital in 2001, so I had to consider how many shots I took.

Everyone, especially those who are into photography should spend some time in Yellowstone.

Again, I really enjoyed your stuff.

I had never messed with video (I never had a kid who was a good enough athlete that I felt compelled to join the other parents in videoing  Jr Hi and High School ball games), until I became a grandfather for the first time a year and a half ago.  My son-in-law bought a Sony video camera and tossed it in my lap and proclaimed that I was now the official videographer for the new twin girls.  Needless to say, I happily accepted my new duties.

My daughter told me she would buy any editing program I wanted.  I did a little research and my choice came down to a Sony program and Corel VideoStudio Pro X2.  I chose the Corel, and have been happy with it, although I haven't ever used anything else to compare it to.  In my limited experience, the secret to good video is to have excellent audio with it.  With this program you can have several audio tracks as well as a voice over.  It comes with some generic music and assorted sounds, but its very easy to put in your own CDs.

I've taken the video camera with me to the Keys for my last two tarpon trips, and had fun videoing and editing my stuff (I put some of it on UTube).  This past May, I put some still photos in with the video and with panning and zooming, and splitting the audio track, its hard to tell the stills from the video.

We went to southern Louisiana in June to visit some antibellum homes along the Mississippi and eat a little cajun food.  I didn't take the video, just my still cameras.  When we got back, I decided to do a presentation like the one you did on your Yellowstone trip.  I used the Corel VideoStudio Pro X2, did a lot of panning and zooming,  put a track of cajun music under it, and added a voice over.  It runs about 7 minutes and it is pretty darn good, even if I do say so myself.

As you are aware, this kind of stuff can take up a lot of disk space, so I decided I'd start using my lap top to do my video editing on.  Well, I couldn't find the ProX2 disk to put it on my laptop,  I mentioned that to my daughter, and she offered to by my a new one.  When I looked for one on Amazon.com, I found that Corel has just come out with a new version, so I'm expecting to get Corel VideoStudio ProX3 in a few days.  If you would like, I'll let you know how a novice thinks the two compare.  At this time I think you can still get the ProX2 as well as the ProX3.

How's that for more than you really wanted to know.

Max

Max thanks for the excellent report.  I've been using CorelDraw since version 4 and grown up to version 14 now....also use WordPerfect which Corel  bought and has integrated it into their family...IOW, they are both compatable.

Been wanting something like this from Corel and glad to see it.  I saw that on Amazon.com and think I'll get it too.  Just feel comfy using a Corel product as all the words, nodes, concepts, etc., are what I know they are.  I use my vids for instruction and will eventually edit them to be instructional vids for sewing and designing.  I've had good luck with what Windows 7 provides, but know I'll need something else...Windows 7 only exports into Windows files - not compatable with anything else - like their Excel, Word, etc., programs...not compatable with any other programs play very nicely with each other including MS.

Still would like to hear what you have to say about the version 3!

Thanks for the info - Claire

Claire:  I got the Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 a few days ago and installed it on my lap top.  I just finished editing a 1/12 year birthday party and a jaunt to the swimming pool.  I cut it to a workable size, added titles, added a few stills that I used pan and zoom on, and put a music track under it ( did you realize that Summertime, Summertime dated to 1958?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqlddPm4TMQ)

I didn't do a voice over.

My observations were similar to the reviews I read.  It's glitzier than Pro X2, but really doesn't add any thing that is new.  It's supposed to run smoother than Pro X2 and I would agree with that.  If I were getting my first video editing program, I would go ahead and get Pro X3, but if I already had X2, I don't think it's worth it to upgrade to Pro X3.

Let's bring on some college football!

Boomer Sooner!

Max

PS  I'll be in Norman Friday for the first time in 2 years.

OK Max...I watched/listened to the video, it was one picture all the way thru - is that what you meant?...you put music to a picture?  Does it do video editing too?  I probably got this wrong - just making sure I got the right movie.

Thanks for the update!

My bad.

I confused the issue by putting in that UTube video of Summertime, Summertime.  I only put it in to illustrate the type of music I put underneath my swimming pool video.  The picture on it has nothing to do with anything.

Yes, it is primarily for video editing, but you can do exacty what you and Walt put up to start this thread.

Sorry for the confusion.
